FAQ #2: Is there such a thing as too much contact between a student and the admissions office?

ANSWER: Absolutely. Excessive calling, particularly when admissions officers are reading the current applications, is both annoying and non-productive. Don’t become a pain. Also, admissions people are quick to complain about phone calls that involve questions easily answered by looking carefully at the application or reading the school’s guidebook. Having said that, polite, clear questions are almost always welcomed. Calling to make sure that the college has received various parts of your application is also just fine. Common sense says that all inquiries should be a model of politeness, patience, and appreciation.
