3. Based on the definitions of Reach, Good Chance and Pretty Sure Thing categories, arrange your college list:
Annie’s Reach Schools
Since Annie’s Critical Reading and Math test score is 1350, and the lower end of both Pomona and Swarthmore’s 25th-75th percentile test scores are 1390 and 1350 respectively, she put them into the Reach category.
She also added Stanford, Amherst, Williams, Vassar, Carleton, Oberlin, and MIddlebury to the Reach category because their acceptances rates are less than 35%.
Annie’s Good Chance Schools
Annie put Wellesley, Macalester, Scripps, Whitman, Lewis & Clark, Grinnell, Kenyon, St. Olaf, and Occidental in her Good Chance category because her test score of 1350 fell into the 25th-75th percentile range of accepted students at those schools.
Also, their acceptance rates are at least 35%, and some close to 50%.
Annie’s Pretty Sure Thing Schools
Because the highest end of their respective 25th-75th Percentile Test Scores were lower than her combined Critical Reading and Math test score of 1350 and/or their acceptance rates were above 50%, Annie put Kalamazoo, Skidmore and Goucher into the Pretty Sure Thing Category.
Here is Annie’s college list divided into Reach, Good Chance and Pretty Sure Thing categories:
