• Are you a founder, President or the “first” of an important organization
(e.g., founder of a new book club, President of the Debate team, the
first high school student ever chosen to be a paid staff photographer
for a local newspaper)?
• Are you Captain of an athletic team, member of a championship team, or
individual champion (e.g., any sport in which you have demonstrated
uncommon leadership)?
• Have you progressively moved from no status to top position through the
course of years (e.g., starting out as a young camper and after many
years moving to Head Counselor)?
• Are you a member who has changed the nature of an organization
or made it better/more effective (e.g., organizer of a wildly
successful inter-school art exchange, made the focus of a community service group relevant to a particular disadvantaged group)?
• Have you gone beyond the norm in contributing to a group, team
or project (e.g., written a play for your school to perform;
performed well enough in a sport to be invited to pre-Olympic
competition; as President of your debate team, gathered team
members to help create a debate team in a low income school
that doesn’t have one)?
