SENIOR YEAR TIMELINE FOR THE END OF THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Mid-March to Middle of April

• A few colleges begin notifying students about their admission decisions as early as late February and some send notices in March. The Ivies and other very competitive schools notify their applicants around April 1 or shortly after.

April

• April is the month during which many colleges offer accepted students on-campus and local Pre-Admit programs and receptions. Many accepted students take advantage of these college-sponsored events, as well as visit campuses on their own.

• April is also the month that students should send in their wait-list or denial appeals.

√ Let your college counselor, teachers and other recommenders know about your college admissions results. Be sure to thank them for their help.

May

• By May 1, you must notify the school you have decided to attend of your decision to enroll and send in the admission deposit.

• May 1 is also the date by which deferred admissions must be accepted.

• Usually, there are housing and scholarship forms that must be returned.

• Early May is also the time for students to inform all other colleges that they will not attend their schools.

June

• Make sure that your final transcript is sent to the college you plan to attend.

• If you want to get college credit for high school AP courses, have College Board send an AP transcript to your college.

• Note on your parents’ calendar when tuition, room and board are due at your college.
