4. Ask for consultation
If you’re still feeling uncertain, then sit down with someone you trust and who cares about you, and discuss where you are in the process and what information and conclusions you have come to so far. Ask them to help you sort through the information and feelings you have.

FINAL BOTTOM LINE
After that, it is up to you. Choose one college, BUT

√ Take care not to choose a college only for its prestige factor or high ranking in U.S. News & World Report, as opposed to one that feels best for you.

√ Also, try to ignore whether the colleges you are considering are Reaches, Good Chances and Pretty Sure Things. In many cases, students find that a Good Chance or Pretty Sure Thing school fits them better academically and personally than a Reach school.

√ Finally, resist the temptation to accept admittance to a college to please someone else, even if that person is important in your life, such as a parent, grandparent, girlfriend or boyfriend.

Only you can make the final decision. After all, you are the person who will be living with the choice. This is going to be your education.

Finally, remember that even if you happen to make a decision that turns out not to be right, it’s not fatal. You can always transfer to another college.

One can begin the process of transferring from one college to another as soon as the first semester of your freshman year.
