FAQ #2: What should I wear to the interview?
ANSWER: The most important thing to know about what to wear is finding something that you feel really comfortable and good in. Colleges don’t expect you to come all dressed up in a coat and tie or a fancy dress or suit. But if that’s what you’re really comfortable in, then go for it! Remember, though, what you wear leaves a lasting impression, positive or negative. Therefore, you don’t want to wear anything that is provocative, unprofessional, or sloppy. Leave your T-shirts, cut-offs, shorts and halter-tops back in the hotel room. Also, visible bra straps are not cool.
For guys, wear something like a favorite shirt and khaki pants, perhaps with a sweater if the weather is cool. For girls, wear whatever clothes make you feel like a million bucks. Consider a nice dress, a skirt or nice pants and a blouse, perhaps a sweater. Also, because you’re likely to be doing a lot of walking, don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes. |
