January/February

• Complete all remaining applications.

• Confirm with any colleges to which you have applied that they have received your application and other requirements.

• Give your high school counselor all of your college’s Mid-Year reports to complete and send.

• If you have been deferred by a college, meet any requirements noted on their letters to you. Update your file with new information. See Guide 15, The End of The Admissions Road for what to say and do about deferrals.

March/April

A few colleges begin notifying students about their admission decisions as early as late February, and some send notices in March. The Ivies and other very competitive schools notify their applicants around April 1 or shortly thereafter.

• Comply with any requests from colleges for additional information.

• April is the month during which many colleges offer accepted students on campus and local Pre-Admit programs and receptions. If you can, take advantage of these college-sponsored events, as well as visit campuses on your own.

• From the acceptance options available to you, decide which college you want to attend.

• Follow-up with any college to which you have been waitlisted with whatever materials they ask of you. See Guide 15, The End of The Admissions Road for what to say and do about wait-lists.

• Let your college counselor, teachers and other recommenders know about your college admissions results. Be sure to thank them for their help.
