There are two general websites that offer students the opportunity to complete online applications: The Common Application and the Universal College Application:

As noted above, many public universities and some private colleges and universities have their own applications. To gain access to them, go to the college’s website and click on the Undergraduate Admissions link.

If you enter the words, “Filling In College Applications” into a search engine such as Google, a myriad of links pop right up and the list seems to change almost every day. Some entries are up-to-date and useful; some are not. As with any Internet information, use your common sense and best judgment when you decide to take or reject the advice.

Books
Many, but certainly not all, admissions books noted in the Books People Rave About section of this website offer chapters or sections on topics covered in this guide. At the moment, there are no books devoted solely to the subject.
